Cloud vs. onsite system

TMSs can be offered as cloud-based or on-premise solutions, or as a combination of both.

There are companies which would only choose the solution that is physically installed on their servers due to security issues and they have resources to manage it. Add to that a high initial price, difficult installation, maintenance costs and the need to pay for each upgrade (after a certain grace period is over) and you may find out that the cloud-based TMS is a better option for you.

What are the advantages of the cloud system?

  • Lower costs of almost everything: from setup, maintenance, subscription fees
  • No need to have a dedicated maintenance team
  • Flexibility of adapting the TMS to your needs
  • Scalability of paying only for what you use
  • Possibility to access it from any place in the world, without VPN, at any time – you only need Internet access
  • Update of translation resources in real time
  • Ongoing monitoring of translation projects
  • Easier cooperation with multiple vendors at the same time
  • Backup of content which is hosted on multiple servers (reliability)
  • Security of data thanks to high-standard security protocols (e.g. no need to send TMs by email)
  • Integration with other cloud-based systems (e.g. Wordpress)
  • For bigger and wealthier enterprises a private cloud is an option.
